Is 1,000 job applications the path to six figures in IT?

I ran a market test to see if applying based on the niche of you matters.

I applied to 2 jobs that matched my criteria (based on past job title, domain knowledge, etc).

From those, I received 1 interview.

They want to move forward.
I'll still make six figures if I switched.
But the raise would be marginal compared to my current compensation.

The process was mostly an exercise to see if still have game.
And to be more informed as I write to you - as I practice what I preach.

My current goal is less about making more from IT (I feel as though I've made it already).

Rather...

...I've said this before, but if you're new to my email list, my goal is to help 111 people make 6-figures or more in 2026.

That requires me to take steps like this so I know:
1. Is the job market as bad as they say?
2. Do you really need to apply to 1000 jobs?
3. What does it take to make 6-figures in IT?

I'll answer each below.

For 1, is the job market as bad as they say?

For those who say it is, it is so.

Otherwise there are still people getting jobs in this economy.

Which will you be?

For 2, do you really need to apply to 1000 jobs?

Applying to 1000 jobs is good advice in terms of learning the grit of the process early on.

But it can often mean, use 1 resume to apply to 1000 jobs.
This is contradictory to what I teach.
The fastest way to get a job is to become a niched fit to the niched market.

You can't be a niched fit if you use 1 resume for many jobs.

Or maybe you can, but it doesn't teach you to up your game.

Your conversion rate will suck.

For 3, what does it take to make 6-figures in IT?

Often we get stuck in thinking, we must learn more.
Or get more certifications.

Though relevant, it's not the whole picture.

I currently have 0 certifications.
And I'm still booking interviews.

You can't get interviews if you're not also applying for jobs.
Or you're not marketing yourself to be a niched fit for the specific job.

That's why you must craft each resume, to match each job you apply for.

Apply to 1 job, that's 1 custom resume.
Apply to 1000 jobs, that's 1000 custom resumes.

It's worth the pivot.

The path to finally getting a 6-figure job in IT is not always skill.
It’s not knowing where to aim or how to present what you already have in a way the market recognizes.

This is the part that’s hard to self-diagnose.

If you want help pressure-testing your niche, tightening your resume for the exact roles you should be targeting, and building a repeatable path to six figures in IT, that’s what my Skool is for.

Each month, you and I work directly together on the actual steps required to land that role - from positioning to resumes to interviews.
